Inspiring authentic travel
There are many reasons to travel. It may be an obligatory business trip or out of necessity to get from point A to point B so we can spend time with family or friends. Or we might be inspired to travel, to get away from it all, for the thrill of new experiences, new places and new faces.
When inspired to travel, we often look for those unique gems, those places where we can ‘stop and smell the roses’. We seek out those ‘salt of the earth’ people who touch our hearts and help us see things in a new light. These are the things that make our lives a little richer. This is the intangible value of authentic travel.
Over the next six months, we are going to highlight people and places from the road that we believe provide authentic travel inspiration, by sharing their stories with you.
To find these friendly faces and places, we have partnered with an organisation called Open Africa. A social enterprise, Open Africa is all about uncovering and developing the potential of people and places. They have been around since 1995 and have been working hard at developing tourism routes and, more importantly, finding tourism enterprises that are often overlooked and linking them to the tourism market. To read more about how they do this, visit their website.
What does this mean for you, our fellow CTK travellers? Over the next six months, we will be introducing you to six friendly faces from the road who you should meet during your own local travels; a menu, if you will, of hidden gems that will inspire.
Our series starts at the end of this month. Look out for our friendly face from the road on the last Wednesday of each month, and find updates on Facebook and Twitter.
